So, my school participates in this math league thing and my parents made me go cuz they're like genius nerds and stuff. Luckily, a lot of my friends were there so I hung out with them. I was playing Marry, Ditch, or Date with one of my friends... what should we call her? Umm...how about Audra? Yeah, that fits... So to play, you name 3 boys (or 3 girls if you're doing it with a boy) and the other person has to say who they would rather marry, ditch, or date.
She gave me 3 boys and I, being kind of antiromantic, blushed and glared at her. I don't remember exactly who they were, but one of them was a friend of mine (who's also A COMPLETE GENIUS. I'm not lying, he takes HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL MATH AND HE'S NOT EVEN IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!). I was like, "um I'll marry him, cuz he's nice." and Audra was like, "oooo, don't you like him?"
My anti-romantic instincts kicked into overdrive and I was like, "NO, WE'RE JUST FRIENDS! GOD!" And then I blushed some more. UGHHHH. Damn you, antiromantic instincts. But that led to a weird conversation where we were both like, "Like, like or like?" We're so weird...
Then, as I went home and thought deep things in the shower (hee hee, check out the In The Shower tag if you want to know what I'm talking about! P.s. I will be doing this post vaaaaair soon!), I realized, "BOYS AND GIRLS, LIKE, CAN'T BE FRIENDS ANYMORE. WHYYY DOE??"
And I mean, I understand why. A lot of the popular kids claimed they were "just friends" with other kids of the opposite sex and guess what? THEY ENDED UP "DATING". So I can see why people are like, "you like them!" Not to mention the fact that in books & movies, the best friend boy and girl always end up falling in love so...
But most of the time, that's not the case. I find that sometimes, boys are a lot nicer and less judgy to talk to. Plus, I admit, I have a kind of immature sense of humor :).
But it's like, everytime you try to talk to them (NOT FLIRT) people are like, "Do you like him?!" And I'm like, "FOR THE BLOODY LOVE, CAN'T BOYS AND GIRLS BE FRIENDS ANYMORE???!!!!???" And then they give me a weird look, and I prance away like the loud & proud unicorn I am.
And now for your regularly scheduled cheesy, motivational message... It shouldn't matter who you're friends with: girl, boy, unicorn, or otherwise. Other people will tease you or ship you with someone else; shake them off! IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER. As long as they're a true friend, it won't matter at all.
Thanks for reading my rambly ranting post and have a lovely day!
